Municipal cemeteries in Chile and Spain upgrade facilities for grieving families

In San Felipe, Chile, Hospital San Camilo and the municipal government inaugurated a memorial at the municipal cemetery to provide a dignified burial space for families who have suffered perinatal loss. The project follows Chile’s Ley Dominga, which mandates health and psycho‑emotional support for families after fetal or neonatal death. Hospital director Dr. Rodrigo González and mayor Dr. Carmen Castillo highlighted the collaboration that makes the space safe, respectful and affordable for low‑income families.

In Viana, Spain, the local council completed a series of upgrades to the municipal cemetery, including concrete paving of the main entrance from Sarito street and internal roads, as well as the installation of three water fountains. These works improve accessibility, especially during rain, facilitate the movement of visitors, and aid maintenance of graves and flowerbeds.
