Municipal Corporation of Delhi launches Suniyo 2.0 tax amnesty scheme
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched the ‘Suniyo 2.0 – One Plus Seven’ property tax amnesty scheme for the 2026-27 period. The initiative, which runs from September 29 to December 31, 2026, allows property owners to clear eligible tax dues without paying interest or penalties for a specific timeframe.
Under the scheme, taxpayers must pay the principal amount for the current 2026-27 financial year and the previous seven years, spanning from 2019-20 to 2025-26. Once these eight years of principal dues are settled, any outstanding property tax liabilities from before 2019-20, including applicable interest and penalties, will be waived.
To assist taxpayers, the MCD has introduced a part-payment facility for those with total tax liabilities of Rs 5 lakh or more, allowing for equal instalments. The scheme also provides a mechanism for taxpayers to rectify incorrect property tax assessments within two months or before the scheme's conclusion. Additionally, individuals involved in pending property tax litigation may participate by submitting an undertaking to withdraw their cases. The MCD is organizing facilitation camps through zonal offices and has established a dedicated helpline to assist the public.
