Municipal Corporation of Delhi to disburse student aid for uniforms
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is beginning the disbursement of financial aid to students for uniforms and school bags for the 2026-27 academic session. In the first phase, approximately Rs 69.87 crore will be transferred to the bank accounts of about 5.1 lakh students.
The civic body has identified 6,56,950 students as beneficiaries based on enrollment data frozen on August 31. Each student will receive Rs 1,370 to cover uniforms and school bags. To address previous delays, officials are working to open bank accounts for students whose parents do not currently have them and updating inactive account details.
A change in the distribution method has been implemented for stationery. While students previously received Rs 300 via direct transfer for notebooks and other supplies, the MCD will now procure and distribute stationery items directly through schools. The total funds earmarked for the program are estimated at Rs 90 crore.
