Bulgarian municipal councils address budgets, debt, and local projects
Municipal councils across several Bulgarian regions are addressing diverse administrative and financial matters. In Pernik, the municipal council approved a short-term debt of 1.9 million euros to cover current and overdue obligations by the end of the fiscal year. Mayor Stanislav Vladimirov noted that the loan, to be repaid in three installments within one year, is necessary to prevent worsening the municipality's financial state.
In Gorna Oryahovitsa, councilors are reviewing a construction program report covering the first nine months of 2026. The agenda includes budget changes, property management, and an educational project aimed at overcoming demographic and social barriers to learning in partnership with local vocational high schools. The council is also discussing regional development projects and water utility asset management.
In Cherven Bryag, the council is set to vote on updating the 2026 capital program and financial strategy. Other agenda items include adopting ethical rules for council members to manage interest group contacts, supporting Pleven's candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2032, and defining taxi fare rates for 2027.
