Municipal disputes arise in Chiclana and Vigo over governance and budgets

In Chiclana, the People's Party (PP) has accused Mayor José María Román of using municipal regulations to block a debate regarding public security and drug trafficking. The PP initiative sought to urge the Spanish Government to declare the province of Cádiz a 'Zone of Special Singularity' to increase resources for the Civil Guard. Ascen Hita, local PP president, claimed the mayor is using the Organic Municipal Regulation to silence opposition and limit the discussion of necessary measures to combat narcotics and protect residents.

In Vigo, the local government and opposition parties (PP and BNG) clashed during a municipal plenary session regarding budget execution and payments to suppliers. While the PSOE highlighted that the city made over 44 million euros in payments with an average period of 20 days, the PP criticized a worsening payment period and noted eight million euros in pending payments, some exceeding legal deadlines. Opposition groups also raised concerns over low investment execution rates, accusing the administration of accumulating resources without converting them into effective services.
