Municipal elections approach in Krnov and Orlová

Municipal elections in the Czech towns of Krnov and Orlová are approaching, with various political groups competing for local leadership and control over municipal budgets.

In Krnov, seven candidate lists are vying for seats. Current mayor Tomáš Hradil is seeking reelection leading the Krnov Patriots. The ANO 2011 movement has introduced a change in leadership, with Monika Bala Dudová heading their list. Other competing groups include Democrats for Krnov, KRNOVÁCI, SPD, KSČM, and Za Krnov with KDU. The 2022 elections were notably close, with ANO and the Krnov Patriots each securing nine mandates.

In Orlová, the election will determine whether the city maintains its current direction or shifts to new leadership. Incumbent mayor Lenka Brzyszkowská of ANO is running for reelection, alongside deputy mayors Petr Stuchlík (SPD/Trikolora) and Roman Galia (Srdce pro Orlovou). The incoming council will manage a budget exceeding 1.1 billion CZK annually, covering essential services, education, and infrastructure investments.
