British Columbia candidates announce runs for municipal and provincial offices

Various political candidates and election details are emerging across British Columbia as municipal and provincial elections approach.

In the provincial arena, the B.C. NDP has selected Jason Leboe, a utilities operator from the District of Hope, to run in the Fraser-Nicola riding. Premier David Eby noted the party's focus on protecting public services and standing against international trade pressures. In the Kootenay Central riding, incumbent Brittny Anderson has announced her re-election bid for the B.C. NDP, while Warren Mirko will represent the B.C. Conservatives for the Kootenay-Monashee seat.

Municipal elections are also underway, with candidates sharing platforms in several regions. In New Tecumseth, Stephanie MacLellan is prioritizing budget transparency and managed growth. In Abbotsford, David Pellikaan is campaigning on economic growth and fiscal responsibility. Other local races include candidates for council in Mulmur Township, North Cowichan, Barriere, Grand Forks, Kimberley, and Quesnel.

Additionally, School District 91 trustee candidates are presenting their priorities, including literacy and digital safety, while the City of Nanaimo and Port Alberni have issued notices regarding voter qualifications and election dates.
