Municipal Health Conferences in São Sepé and Santana Stress SUS Strengthening

The 9th Municipal Health Conference of São Sepé took place on 10 June at the Fundação Cultural Afif Jorge Simões Filho. Notable speakers included nurse and doctor Camila Barreto, who discussed “Health, Democracy, Sovereignty and SUS: Caring for the People is Caring for Brazil,” and nurse‑researcher Francine Casarin, who presented on integrated care models and territorial management. The event aimed to foster dialogue among health managers, workers, users and civil society to develop proposals for strengthening the municipality’s public‑health policies.

The 8th Municipal Health Conference of Santana opened on 11 June in the Cine Teatro de Santana. The ceremony, led by municipal health secretary Plínio da Luz on behalf of Mayor Bala Rocha, highlighted popular participation in building the SUS and paid tribute to health workers who had died in recent years. Attendees reviewed and approved the conference regulations, and discussions were set to focus on democracy, sovereignty and reinforcement of the public health system, with work groups preparing proposals for future municipal health planning.
