Municipal hospitals in Brazil celebrate major anniversaries

Two Brazilian municipal hospitals are marking significant milestones. Hospital Arcanjo São Miguel in Gramado celebrated 79 years since its inauguration on October 26, 1947. Originally established through community mobilization and donations, the hospital now serves as a primary facility in the city, providing 24-hour care, ICU services, and maternity care through both the SUS and private insurance.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Hospital Municipal Miguel Couto marked 90 years of operation on October 25. Located in Gávea, the facility is a national reference for orthopedics and trauma. The hospital performs approximately 7,000 surgeries, 100,000 outpatient and emergency visits, and 110,000 exams annually. Its orthopedic service, the Professor Nova Monteiro Service, has been active for 75 years and serves as a training hub for specialists from Brazil and abroad.
