Municipal management oversight in Mexico and Peru

In Durango, Mexico, the State Congress is set to monitor the management of 39 municipal governments. Ernesto Alanís Herrera, president of the Government and Political Coordination Board, stated that the legislature will receive annual reports to oversee public finances and social actions. This process is part of the institutional responsibility to ensure transparency and accountability as mandated by the state constitution.

Separately, investigations into regional municipalities in Peru have highlighted a critical lack of updated management documents. Many local governments are operating without essential instruments such as the Regulations of Organization and Functions (ROF), the Manual of Job Profiles (MPP), or Institutional Development Plans (PDI). This deficiency in administrative planning hinders the ability of these municipalities to execute programmatic management and effective operations.
