Municipal mosquito control operations in Velika Gorica and Belgrade

On 9 July 2026, the city of Velika Gorica (Croatia) carried out a second larviciding campaign against mosquito larvae. Authorized staff from Ekoderatizacija surveyed the I and II zones of the municipal contribution area, inspected potential breeding sites such as streams, retention basins, ponds, canals, abandoned fountains and other water bodies, and applied larvicides using sprayers, hand‑press equipment or cold‑spraying devices at locations including Podbrežnica, Cibljanica, Dr Franje Tuđman Park, and several streets in the city.

Two days earlier, on 7 July 2026, Belgrade’s public‑utility “Gradska čistoća” continued adult‑mosquito control across numerous public sites, including Veliki Galijaš canal, Ada Huja, Košutnjak, Topčider, Vinča, Grocka and other districts. Teams used thermal and cold fogging, pending suitable weather, and urged residents to eliminate standing water, install barriers, and cooperate with the crews. Both municipalities emphasized documentation of breeding sites and monitoring of adult mosquito activity.
