Municipal service disputes arise in Cambrils and El Vendrell
Local authorities in Catalonia are facing scrutiny over municipal service maintenance and waste management. In Cambrils, users of the Ermita de la Mare de Déu del Camí are reporting silt accumulation in the courtyard caused by poor cleaning of the fountain. Despite a 15-year agreement between the Cambrils City Council and the Santa Maria Parish to maintain the site, residents claim the fountain's drainage has not been cleared for three months. Municipal sources indicate that the company Comaigua has been tasked with resolving the issue before the upcoming local festival on September 8.
In El Vendrell, the municipal group Fem Vendrell has raised concerns regarding waste collection services. The group is demanding the immediate reopening of closed containers and has submitted a 219-page file to the Generalitat's Department of Health to inspect potential public health risks. Fem Vendrell claims that despite unanimous council approval in April to revise the collection system and waste tax, the local government has failed to execute these measures or provide necessary technical reports and data.
