Municipal spending and electoral neutrality issues in Lebu and Santa Cruz de Tenerife

In Lebu, Chile, reports indicate that the Municipality spent more than $215 million CLP on the organization of the Fiesta de la Nalca 2026. While the event featured high-quality technical infrastructure and attracted significant crowds, questions have been raised regarding the use of public resources for artistic fees, animation costs, and the prominence of local authorities during the festivities.

In Spain, the Provincial Electoral Board of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has ordered the Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, to remove a statement from the municipal website and social media channels. The statement, which criticized the PSOE regarding waste tax increases, was deemed a violation of institutional neutrality. The Board ruled that the publication mixed municipal information with partisan criticism, and ordered the Mayor to refrain from using municipal media for electoralist messaging until the next elections.
