Municipal teams compete in São Paulo Senior Games (JOMI) 2026

Senior Games JOMI Marília delegation Vargem Grande São Paulo

The 28th edition of the Jogos da Melhor Idade (JOMI) took place in São Paulo state, with the regional phase held in Assis from 26 June to 1 July 2026. Marília sent a 120‑person delegation, including athletes and staff, to compete in events such as athletics, adapted 3×3 basketball, bocha, dance, swimming and chess, seeking qualification for the state finals.

Vargem Grande do Sul also participated in the JOMI, fielding ten athletes in athletics, buraco, domino, swimming and truco during the competition held 3 – 7 June in São João da Boa Vista. The Vargem team recorded a fourth‑place finish in buraco and placed 31st overall among 43 municipalities, reflecting the municipality’s active ageing and sport integration programmes.
