Municipal waste collection services expanded in La Línea (Spain) and Antofagasta (Chile)

From 1 July, the La Línea de la Concepción municipality in Spain will operate its "Punto Limpio" clean‑point for residents from Monday to Saturday, 08:00‑15:00 and 17:00‑20:00, and will reinforce the collection of bulky household items through the GECOR app or a dedicated phone line. The service remains free for individuals and is part of a joint effort with the waste‑management firm Arcgisa to improve recycling and keep public spaces clean.

On the same day, the Antofagasta commune in Chile launched a new waste‑collection scheme using a modern fleet of 45 rear‑load trucks, seven roll‑on‑roll‑off trucks, a tip‑truck, five 3/4‑tonne trucks and supporting vans under a bridge contract with EBI Chile. The municipality stressed that collection routes and schedules will not change. A free hotline (800 340 303) was opened for enquiries and complaints. Mayor Sacha Razmilic said, "Vamos a tener más camiones, camiones nuevos, más tecnología para satisfacer las necesidades de Antofagasta," and EBI Chile’s general manager José Luis Navajas added, "Queremos ser un aliado de la ciudad y de sus vecinos, porque construir una Antofagasta más limpia y sostenible es una tarea que requiere el compromiso de todos."
