Municipal workers in Tandil and Guaymallén pursue salary negotiations

Municipal workers in Tandil and Guaymallén, Argentina, are engaged in ongoing salary negotiations with their respective local governments.

In Tandil, the union representing municipal employees has submitted a formal proposal to the local government. The request includes an extraordinary bonus of 600,000 pesos and a salary adjustment scheme tied to inflation. Specifically, the union is seeking increases for November and December based on the Consumer Price Index, a 10 percent raise for January 2027, and an increase in the attendance bonus to 100,000 pesos. Mayor Lunghi is expected to provide a formal response in early November.

In Guaymallén, the municipality has presented a new salary proposal aimed at resolving labor conflicts through a system of differentiated bonuses. The plan seeks to prioritize lower-income workers to reduce wage inequality while maintaining public accounts. The proposal includes bonuses of up to 400,000 pesos, with amounts scaled according to gross salary and service area. Under this scheme, 966 employees in the lowest brackets would receive the maximum bonus, while those earning over 2,200,000 pesos would not receive the additional payment. Negotiations are scheduled to continue this coming Monday.
