Municipalities address construction safety and building irregularities

Authorities in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, are working to address buildings lacking official completion certificates. Following a review of approximately 1,450 buildings, officials identified 254 structures without proper certification. The municipal executive and the City Council are collaborating to analyze these cases, distinguishing between administrative issues and those posing physical risks to occupants.

In Arauco, Chile, the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism is investigating construction errors at the Villa El Mirador housing complex. A 500-meter crack in the terrain has put 310 homes at risk due to landslides. Minister Iván Poduje has committed rental subsidies for 40 families in high-risk areas while an independent soil mechanics study is conducted. The results of this three-month study will determine if the land can be stabilized or if families must be relocated.
