Municipalities advance social infrastructure projects in Mexico and Chile
Local governments in Mexico and Chile are advancing social infrastructure projects to support families and the elderly.
In Poncitlán, Jalisco, Mayor Arturo Isrrael Ascencio confirmed that negotiations are underway between the municipal government and the IMSS Workers' Union to establish a new IMSS daycare center. Officials are currently evaluating four potential sites, with a preference for locations near the Family Medical Unit. The project aims to benefit between 200 and 250 families, though final approval is pending the selection of a site that meets all safety requirements.
In Puerto Natales, Mayor Ana Mayorga announced plans to construct a new Long-Term Care Establishment (ELEAM) for older adults. The municipality has already designated land for the project and assigned a dedicated official to oversee its development, with a goal of having a concrete proposal by the end of 2026. The facility is intended to accommodate 30 residents in an infrastructure specifically designed to meet current regulatory standards.
