Municipalities announce investments in rural roads and heritage trails

Municipalities in Villanueva de la Serena and Almería have announced new infrastructure investments focused on road and trail improvements.

In Villanueva de la Serena, the City Council presented a plan to invest approximately 2.05 million euros to improve 53 kilometers of rural roads. A major portion of this, 1.8 million euros, is designated for repairing 47 kilometers of paths in the Zújar irrigation zone and the Santa Ana and La Encomienda areas following winter storms. An additional 250,000 euros will be used for work on the Los Arrieros, Viveros Fort, and La Barca paths.

In Almería, the City Council has opened a bidding process for 650,886.61 euros to recover two heritage trails: Camino Viejo and the area surrounding the Jayrán Wall. Part of the ‘Almería camina por su historia’ project, these works aim to restore historical paths to facilitate hiking, walking, and outdoor sports. The project is supported by European co-financing under the ‘Almería Ciudad Abierta y de Encuentro’ Integrated Action Plan.
