Municipalities expand waste collection services in Almuñécar and Monclova
Municipalities in Almuñécar, Spain, and Monclova, Mexico, are implementing updates to their waste management systems.
In Almuñécar, the San Miguel neighborhood will introduce organic waste collection starting October 5. This new service includes dedicated containers for food scraps and other organic matter, with collection occurring daily from Monday to Sunday. To assist residents with this new habit, the city is conducting a door-to-door information campaign involving the distribution of brochures and home containers. Existing selective collection for plastics, cans, and paper remains on its current schedule.
In Monclova, the city is expanding its door-to-door collection system by adding new vehicles, bringing the total fleet to 26 units. This expansion aims to relieve pressure on the container-based system, which currently serves approximately 40% of the city and faces saturation due to commercial growth in eastern sectors. Starting in October, pilot routes will transition from containers to door-to-door collection in neighborhoods such as Bulevar Juárez, Guerrero, and Hipódromo.
