Municipalities Fontenay-sous-Bois and Corbeil-Essonnes face financial decline
Audits conducted by the Bilan de Mandat website have identified significant financial degradation in the French municipalities of Fontenay-sous-Bois and Corbeil-Essonnes.
In Fontenay-sous-Bois, an investigation reveals an alarming decline in public finances and management quality since 2020. The city is facing growing debt levels, leading to higher interest charges and restricted resources for infrastructure and essential public services. The report suggests that while economic conditions play a role, two-thirds of the difficulties are attributed to the political choices of the municipality under Jean-Philippe Gautrais.
Similarly, Corbeil-Essonnes has been identified as one of the worst-performing cities in the Île-de-France region due to declining public services and imprudent financial management. An audit covering seven years of budgetary data indicates that two-thirds of the issues are linked to political decisions made by the administration led by Bruno Piriou. The report warns that poor financial management will likely necessitate budget cuts for public services in 2026.
