Municipalities implement new overnight parking regulations
Several municipalities in the United States are implementing new overnight parking regulations to manage local demand and accessibility.
In Mooresville, overnight parking enforcement has begun in several downtown public lots. Between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., parking is prohibited in the Charles Mack Citizen Center back lot, the lot off Church Street between Moore and Center Avenues, and the Liberty Park parking lot. Vehicles remaining in these areas during restricted hours are subject to towing. To assist local businesses, employees working past 2 a.m. will be provided with special passes. Street parking and the lot at the corner of Church Street and Iredell Avenue remain unaffected.
In Frisco, a new overnight parking plan for Main Street is scheduled to take effect on November 1. The changes aim to address increased demand from new housing developments and facilitate overnight snowplowing during the winter season. The town will transition from a day-of-the-week system to a simpler odd-even schedule based on the calendar date. On odd-numbered dates, parking will be permitted north of Main Street, providing approximately 90 spots. On even-numbered dates, parking will be permitted south of Main Street, providing approximately 125 spots. Enforcement hours will remain between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
