Municipalities implement new waste management and recycling initiatives

Local authorities in Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, have opened a new recycling center to improve waste management and support the circular economy. The project was implemented by the City of Konjic in collaboration with EKOPAK and ZEOS Eko-sistem, with support from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism. The facility, managed by JKP Standard Konjic, aims to simplify waste disposal for citizens and align with federal plans requiring local communities to maintain recycling infrastructure.

In Belgrade, Serbia, the public utility company Gradska čistoća and the Voždovac municipality distributed approximately 70 new 240-liter PVC bins to households in the Jajinci neighborhood. These green and blue bins are designated for communal and recyclable waste, respectively. The initiative aims to improve waste collection in areas where standard container placement is difficult and to reduce the formation of illegal landfills. Residents received instructional brochures to assist with proper waste sorting, including plastic, paper, and aluminum.
