South American communities launch youth and senior citizen initiatives

Various regional initiatives are focusing on community development and support for senior citizens across South America.

In Argentina, several municipal programs are active: Concordia is organizing its third "No me sueltes la mano" event for seniors on September 10. In Comodoro Rivadavia, the San Martín Day Center celebrated its 17th anniversary with community festivities. In San Juan, the "Conectando Generaciones" event gathered over 1,200 adults at Club Colón Junior to promote intergenerational bonds. Additionally, in Escobar, over 500 residents participated in a solidarity day to repair 14 local institutions, including senior centers.

In Chile, the Congreso Jóvenes Futuro 2026 has announced a program of workshops and talks addressing youth uncertainty, AI, and the future of work. Meanwhile, in San Juan de la Costa, the municipality has committed to expanding the Puaucho Senior Citizen House to improve communal spaces and support local senior organizations.
