Municipalities in Argentina and Chile inaugur new sports lighting
Local governments in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, and Ovalle, Chile, have implemented new lighting systems to facilitate nighttime sporting activities.
In Comodoro Rivadavia, the installation of new lighting at the municipal synthetic track enabled the return of nighttime track and field tournaments for the first time in 47 years. The event included various categories, notably the Regional Mile on Track. Mayor Othar Macharashvili indicated that future infrastructure priorities include building accessibility ramps for people with disabilities.
In Ovalle, the municipality inaugurated new lighting at the Cerrillos de Tamaya football pitch. The initiative aims to expand the available hours for children, youth, and adults to engage in physical activity. The inauguration featured a match between Club Deportivo Luis Bugueño and Club Deportivo Real Sociedad de Cerrillos de Tamaya.
