Municipalities in Argentina and Peru address urban damage and land recovery

Authorities in Realicó, Argentina, have issued an alert following a series of acts of vandalism targeting community spaces and public property. Reported damages include broken perimeter fencing at the Cumelén site, destruction of waste bins and lighting near the terminal, and graffiti on benches and signage in the Scout area. The municipality noted that these actions require the diversion of public funds and municipal workers to perform repairs.

In Puente Piedra, Peru, the local municipality has intensified demolition operations to recover public spaces along the Panamericana Norte. Heavy machinery has been used to demolish homes near El Recuerdo Park to facilitate road expansion and infrastructure projects. While the municipality aims to clear irregular constructions and improve transit, some residents have protested, claiming the demolitions have left homes uninhabitable and disrupted essential services like water and electricity.
