Municipalities in Belgium and the Netherlands announce major infrastructure investments

FC Tenstar Melle has inaugurated a new artificial turf field on Varingstraat, representing a total investment of 515,065 euros. The project is supported by a 277,105 euro subsidy and a 139,000 euro interest-free loan from the Merelbeke-Melle local government, alongside a 99,408 euro contribution from Sport Vlaanderen. The new infrastructure is intended to allow for more intensive use and consistent training and matches during inclement weather.

In the Netherlands, the municipality of Voorschoten has proposed an ambitious budget for 2027-2030, planning to invest approximately 113 million euros in various facilities. Priority projects include a new sports center, the Fortgensschool, and a new town hall in the Zilverfabriek. However, these investments are expected to increase residential costs for inhabitants by 10.6 percent next year, driven by rising sewage, waste, and property taxes.
