Municipalities in Brazil adjust public servant holidays
Local governments in Brazil are adjusting the observance of Public Servant Day to create extended holiday periods. In Cruzeiro do Sul, Mayor José de Souza Lima issued Decree No. 343/2026, moving the administrative day off from Wednesday, October 28, to Friday, October 30. This decision aligns the municipal calendar with the state government's schedule.
In Volta Redonda, Mayor Antonio Francisco Neto announced that public servants will have a long weekend spanning from Friday, October 30, through Monday, November 2, for All Souls' Day. To support this, the city is anticipating the October salary payment to October 28. This measure is expected to inject approximately R$ 65 million into the local economy and aims to accommodate the schedule of the presidential second-round elections occurring on October 25.
