Municipalities in Brazil deliver new bus fleets to modernize public transport
Local governments in Brazil have announced significant expansions to their public transportation fleets to improve passenger comfort and accessibility.
In Pernambuco, Governor Raquel Lyra delivered 100 new air-conditioned buses to serve the Recife Metropolitan Region. These vehicles will be integrated into conventional and BRT fleets, serving municipalities including Recife, Olinda, Abreu e Lima, Paulista, Igarassu, Ilha de Itamaracá, Itapissuma, and Araçoiaba. The initiative is part of a broader modernization effort that has seen 1,000 new vehicles delivered since 2023.
In São José do Rio Preto, Mayor Coronel Fábio Candido oversaw the delivery of 40 new buses. The fleet, provided by operators Circular Santa Luzia and Itamaraty, features air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and accessibility resources for people with disabilities. This renewal aims to replace older units and enhance the daily experience for commuters.
