Brazilian municipalities report 2026 second-quarter fiscal results
Various Brazilian municipalities held public hearings to present fiscal management reports for the second quarter of 2026, in compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Law.
In Rio Preto, revenue reached R$ 1.88 billion, exceeding projections by 1.6%, driven largely by credit operations and agreements. In Curitiba, investments more than doubled compared to the previous year, reaching R$ 784 million, with a primary surplus of R$ 1.13 billion. Corumbá reported that personnel expenses remained within legal limits, with a proposed 2027 budget of approximately R$ 1.18 billion.
Other cities reported mixed results. Pará de Minas exceeded constitutional minimums for health (33.87%) and education (27.13%), despite a drop in revenue due to index correction issues. Nova Mutum reported R$ 435.1 million in revenue, with education and health investments meeting legal requirements. Conversely, João Monlevade noted a significant revenue shortfall, with technical expectations suggesting the municipality could end the year R$ 50 million below its initial forecast.
