Municipalities in Brazil report on security and health investments
In Araraquara, the Municipal Secretariat of Security and Urban Mobility announced an initial investment of R$ 544,000 for the acquisition of 9mm semi-automatic pistols and accessories for the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM). The decision follows inquiries from city council members. The Secretariat stated that the arming of the GCM is a necessary measure to align with federal norms and Supreme Federal Court decisions that recognize municipal guards as part of the public security system, allowing for preventive and community-based actions.
In Curitiba, the Municipal Health Secretariat presented its performance report for the second quadrimester of 2026 to the City Council. Secretary Tatiane Filipak highlighted the implementation of Digital Clinics and Continuous Care Centers for primary care. The report noted that during the first eight months of 2026, 17.27% of the municipality's net current revenues were allocated to health, exceeding the constitutional minimum of 15%.
