Municipalities in Galicia implement waste management initiatives

In Salvaterra de Miño, local authorities reported stable recycling efficiency despite a growing population that now exceeds 11,000 inhabitants. Data from the first seven months of 2026 shows that the municipality managed 80,530 kilograms in yellow containers and 94,354 kilograms of paper and cardboard. The error rate in yellow containers stands at 29.3%, which remains significantly lower than the Galicia regional average of approximately 35%.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Mos has scheduled an informative session for October 19 to address the use of brown containers and the separation of organic waste. The meeting, held at the Casa Reitoral de Petelos, targets the general public, hospitality businesses, educational centers, and food retailers. The initiative aims to improve organic waste classification and service efficiency with support from the Xunta de Galicia and European funds.
