Municipalities in Mexico expand public safety and emergency infrastructure
In Puerto Vallarta, Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González led a ceremony to honor the local fire department on National Firefighter Day. The mayor highlighted the expansion of the department's operational capacity, noting that the corporation has grown from a single unit to five operational vehicles. Additionally, Munguía González announced the construction of a new regional fire station near the Puerto Vallarta International Airport to improve response times in the city's northern zone.
In Chihuahua, construction of the new Comandancia Oriente is 50 percent complete. This facility will serve as the permanent headquarters for the Distrito León, a security sector currently operating with 70 police officers and 15 units. The new station will include high-security cells, specialized areas for adolescents and individuals with mental health disorders, and a citizen service area. The expansion aims to address security needs in a sector that accounts for approximately 15 percent of the city's criminal activity.
