Municipalities in Mexico strengthen security coordination ahead of elections

The town of Tezontepec de Aldama in Hidalgo formally joined the state’s Coordinated Command of Public Security, receiving a fully equipped patrol vehicle from the state government. Municipal president Ana María Rivera Contreras emphasized that “the security of our families … is an absolute priority” and highlighted the need for professionalized police work and closer cooperation with state authorities.

In Saltillo, Coahuila, mayor Javier Díaz ordered a permanent security operation for the upcoming election, coordinating with the state prosecutor, the Secretariat of Security, the Navy, the Army and the National Guard. He pledged that “we will be very attentive to any security incidents” and said patrols will be increased and police will maintain close contact with residents through social‑media channels, a 911 hotline, and a dedicated chatbot.
