Brazil: Municipalities invest in educational infrastructure and full-time learning
Various Brazilian municipalities are implementing diverse educational initiatives focused on infrastructure improvements and expanded learning models. In Minas Gerais, the state government is promoting full-time education to foster student autonomy and socio-emotional skills, exemplified by projects like “Escola Lixo Zero” which significantly reduced school waste.
In Patos de Minas, the local government completed a R$ 1 million revitalization of the Edna Borges Babilônia Early Childhood Education Center, improving physical structures for 143 children. Similarly, the city of Patrocínio has announced plans to expand the Joaquim Martins Municipal School and establish a new Early Childhood Education Center in the Martins rural community.
Other regional developments include the delivery of a renovated and expanded João XXIII School in the Cipoal community by the Santarém administration, involving an investment of over R$ 4.8 million. In Joaçaba, a R$ 600,000 project was signed to improve accessibility and infrastructure at the Frei Bruno Educational Center. Additionally, in Boa Vista, the Tia Linda Municipal School inaugurated the “Estação da Imaginação,” a dedicated space designed to stimulate literacy and creativity through play-based learning for young children.
