Municipalities in Montenegro and Croatia implement student transport subsidies

Municipalities in Montenegro and Croatia are implementing various subsidy programs to reduce transportation costs for students and university students.

In Tivat, Montenegro, the municipality is collaborating with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation to provide free or subsidized transport. Primary school students can receive a 60% cost participation from the municipality, while secondary school students can receive 80%. For students traveling shorter distances (2 to 5 km) using city and suburban transport, the municipality covers 100% of the student ticket price.

In Samobor, Croatia, the city has announced continued subsidies for the 2026/2027 academic year. For secondary students commuting to Zagreb or Zagreb County via specific carriers, the city covers 25% of the monthly ticket, with the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth covering the remaining 75%. Additionally, the city provides up to 75% subsidies for students participating in extracurricular or sporting activities who do not qualify for state aid. For those using ZET transport, the city provides subsidies that can result in the total cost being fully covered for eligible students.
