Municipalities in Porto Walter and Jordão dismiss appointed officials
The municipal governments of Porto Walter and Jordão have dismissed several appointed officials as part of administrative changes. In Porto Walter, approximately 50 individuals holding commissioned positions were removed from roles spanning administration, health, education, public works, social assistance, agriculture, and the environment.
Mayor César Andrade’s administration stated the dismissals are part of an administrative reorganization, asserting the mayor's prerogative to appoint and remove staff at will.
In Jordão, Meire Maria Sérgio de Menezes Silva was removed from her position as the Municipal Secretary of Education, Culture, and Sport, as well as her role as financial manager of the Municipal Education Fund. Mayor Naudo Ribeiro indicated that further dismissals are expected. While the mayors deny political motivations, local councilwoman Laura Yslen Menezes Silva has challenged the decision, alleging the removals are politically motivated due to her family's support for different political figures.
