Municipalities in San Luis and Cancún announce budget and salary updates

In San Luis, Argentina, Mayor Gastón Hissa has announced a 10% salary increase for municipal employees, to be distributed in two 5% installments in September and October. This brings the total salary increase for 2026 to 27%, following previous raises in February and July. Additionally, economic aid for employees will rise to 480,000 pesos starting in September.

In Cancún, Mexico, the municipal Participatory Budget program will see a 66% increase for the 2026 fiscal year. The budget ceiling is expected to reach approximately 100 million pesos, up from 60 million pesos in 2025. Municipal Secretary of Welfare Berenice Sosa Osorio stated that the official call for proposals will be published in early October. The administration is also seeking regulatory adjustments to allow more winning projects based on total municipal votes rather than strictly by zone.
