Municipalities in San Salvador Centro and Tampico remove abandoned vehicles

Municipal authorities in San Salvador Centro and Tampico have launched operations to remove abandoned vehicles from public spaces to improve security and urban order.

In the Mejicanos district of San Salvador Centro, Mayor Mario Durán reported that over 400 abandoned vehicles have been identified. Under the ‘Plan San Salvador Centro Ordenado y Seguro’, the municipality has already removed 485 vehicles in total across the capital districts. The removal process follows a 72-hour notification period given to owners.

In Tampico, Mexico, the local government has removed 505 abandoned vehicles so far this year following citizen complaints. Officials noted that these vehicles obstructed mobility, accumulated trash, and attracted pests. While 386 owners moved their vehicles voluntarily after receiving notifications, 102 units had to be removed by tow trucks because owners failed to comply with municipal requests.
