Municipalities in Spain and Mexico host celebrations for senior citizens

Municipalities in Spain and Mexico are hosting events to honor senior citizens. In Almuñécar and La Herradura, Spain, the local government will hold a ‘Gran Fiesta Homenaje a Nuestros Mayores’ on October 1 to coincide with International Day of Older Persons. The event is designed for residents over 60 and pensioners, featuring food, recognition ceremonies, and raffles.

In the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City, Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega hosted a celebration at Lázaro Cárdenas Park for over 400 older adults. The event included music and social activities to mark the Day of the Older Adult. The local administration highlighted its ongoing support through the Center for Attention and Development of the Older Adult (CADAM), which provides nearly 100 weekly activities for seniors.
