Municipalities in Spain and Mexico implement road repair programs

Local governments in Llanes, Spain, and Ahome, Mexico, are conducting road maintenance and pothole repair programs to address infrastructure deterioration.

In Llanes, the Municipal Pothole Plan, awarded in November 2024 for over 180,000 euros, has seen 5,600 square meters of asphalt applied during its first 18 months. Recent works include 3,500 square meters of paving across locations such as Oviu, Picones, Villahormes, and the Municipal Golf Course. Mayor Enrique Riestra noted the plan is an effective tool for maintaining rural road infrastructure.

In Ahome, Sinaloa, the Municipal Commission for the Development of Population Centers (COMUN) is addressing road damage caused by the rainy season. Officials reported repairing 81 concrete slab potholes totaling 1,527 square meters and 228 asphalt potholes covering 936 square meters. Authorities noted that heavy rainfall continues to accelerate road deterioration, prompting calls for citizen reports to help identify priority repair areas.
