Municipalities invest in holiday decorations to boost local economies

Municipalities in Spain and Mexico are implementing various strategies to boost local economies through holiday celebrations. In San Fernando, Spain, the local commerce association Acosafe has expressed support for the City Council’s Christmas strategy. The plan aims to transform the city into a ‘Christmas Castle’ with spectacular lighting and attractions, such as a nativity scene and a royal residence experience, to attract visitors and increase local sales.

In Celaya, Mexico, Mayor Juan Miguel Ramírez Sánchez has announced a budget of 2 to 3 million pesos for holiday decorations. The goal is to make Celaya one of the best-illuminated municipalities in Guanajuato by installing a massive Christmas tree and a large-scale nativity scene. The project also includes expanding lighting in the Historic Center and along major boulevards to encourage tourism and civic engagement.
