Municipalities launch urban infrastructure renovation projects

Municipal governments in Spain and Mexico have announced significant infrastructure and urban rehabilitation projects.

In Aguilar de la Frontera, Spain, the City Council has begun a comprehensive renovation of the Plaza de San José. With a budget exceeding 250,000 euros, the project aims to restore the monumental site and update its infrastructure, which has not seen major work since 1974. The intervention includes renewing sewage systems and repairing sidewalks to address deterioration, uneven pavement, and safety risks caused by previous temporary concrete repairs.

In Poncitlán, Mexico, local authorities announced a 20 million peso project to remodel the historic center. Mayor Arturo Isrrael Ascencio confirmed that the works will include street paving, sidewalk expansion, new lighting, and maintenance of the main plaza and its kiosk. The project involves several key intersections and is expected to take between one and two months to complete once a contractor is selected via a bidding process scheduled for late October.
