Municipalities propose new cemetery and crematorium projects to address space shortages

Municipalities in San Miguel and Traiguén are addressing critical shortages of cemetery space through new infrastructure proposals.

In San Miguel, Deputy Reynaldo Carballo has expressed support for a proposal by mayoral candidate Dr. Alexis Aguilar to construct a new municipal cemetery. The project aims to utilize 14 manzanas of land owned by the municipality for over 50 years to alleviate the saturation of the current burial grounds. The plan envisions a modern complex with green areas to provide dignified services for local families.

In Traiguén, Councilor Rosanna Rathgeb has formally proposed the creation of a municipal crematorium for both humans and pets. This initiative seeks to utilize 3 to 5 hectares of land recently transferred to the municipality by the Ministry of National Assets. The proposal aims to optimize land use, provide a sustainable environmental solution, and offer a new service for responsible pet ownership. The project has been referred to a council commission for technical and budgetary evaluation.
