Municipalities upgrade cemetery infrastructure and memorial services
Municipalities in Montenegro and Croatia are implementing new infrastructure and services at local cemeteries to meet evolving public needs.
In Podgorica, Montenegro, the municipal company ‘Pogrebne usluge’ is continuing investments to improve cemetery infrastructure. Current projects include the construction of tombs at the City Cemetery on Ćemovsko polje, the creation of park areas with columbariums, and the development of roads and pedestrian paths within various cemetery plots. Ongoing maintenance, including landscaping and greenery, remains a priority to ensure dignified spaces for citizens.
In Zadar, Croatia, the municipal company Nasadi has opened a new ash scattering area at the City Cemetery. This project, featuring a memorial space called ‘ružinjak’, was developed in response to the increasing demand for cremation services. The facility includes 51 urn niches, which have seen significant interest from both locals and foreigners seeking practical options for transporting remains across borders.
