Municipalities upgrade funeral facilities and expand burial capacity

Municipalities in Spain and Mexico are implementing infrastructure improvements to address funeral and burial needs.

In Adeje, Spain, the local government has renovated the Armeñime crypt to modernize its facilities. The upgrades include a climate-controlled wake room, an equipped kitchen, and a specialized refrigerated room for the exhibition of the deceased, which allows for visual connection to a separate family area while maintaining physical separation.

In Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, authorities are planning to add 1,000 new graves at the Panteón de la Cruz to combat the saturation of municipal cemeteries. The project involves utilizing adjacent municipal land and regularizing 25 rural cemeteries to increase burial capacity. Currently, the city relies on 435 donated lots from private cemeteries to manage the lack of space.
