Municipality of Thermi expands municipal fee exemptions for vulnerable citizens
The Thermi Municipal Council has unanimously passed decision 217/2026 to expand the categories of vulnerable citizens eligible for reductions or exemptions from municipal fees. This move aligns the municipality with the new provisions of the Local Government Code (Law 5314/2026).
The decision aims to strengthen social policy by supporting families and individuals facing increased economic or social needs. New categories explicitly included in the framework are single-parent families and the long-term unemployed.
Key eligibility criteria include:
• Persons with a disability of 67% or higher with an annual family income below €25,000. • Large families (at least four protected children) with an annual income limit of €35,000, increasing by €5,000 for each additional protected child. • Three-child families with an annual income below €25,000. • Single-parent families with an annual income below €25,000. • Recipients of the Minimum Guaranteed Income (OPEKA program).
