Municipality of Thermi launches green balcony and garden competition

The Municipality of Thermi, in collaboration with the environmental organization Mamagaia and as part of the European UCare project, has launched a competition titled ‘The Green Municipality of Thermi Starts from Our Home!’. The initiative aims to promote urban biodiversity and climate resilience by recognizing green interventions in private spaces.

Participants can enter two categories: ‘Green Balcony’ and ‘Green Garden’. The competition is open to residents or legal users of property within the administrative boundaries of Thermi who are aged 18 and older. Submissions must be made electronically and include details about the space, the green practices implemented, and three to five photographs.

Entries will be accepted from September 28, 2026, to October 26, 2026. A UCare committee, consisting of representatives from both the Municipality and Mamagaia, will evaluate submissions based on ecological function (25%), aesthetic quality (25%), and contribution to climate resilience (15%), among other criteria.
