Bangladesh President calls for national AI ecosystem development
At the Bangladesh AI Business Summit 2026, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized the need for Bangladesh to transition from a mere user of artificial intelligence to a nation capable of AI application and innovation. He highlighted that AI will be a primary driver of development for the country, impacting sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, and the overall economy.
The President urged the business community and policymakers to view AI as a tool for creating new products, services, and employment opportunities rather than just a means to reduce costs. He noted that leveraging the country's large youth population through technological training is essential to becoming a leader in the fourth industrial revolution.
During the summit, industry experts and policymakers also called for the establishment of a national AI ecosystem. They stressed the importance of developing skilled manpower, increasing research and investment, and creating AI technologies tailored to local languages and cultures to overcome challenges like limited infrastructure and high implementation costs.
