Munster Rugby to honor Anthony Foley during Racing 92 match

Munster Rugby will hold a series of tributes to honor the late Anthony Foley during their Investec Champions Cup match against Racing 92 at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The event marks the 10th anniversary of the former captain's passing.

To commemorate Foley, Munster will retire the number 8 jersey for the match. The captains of both teams are expected to swap jerseys featuring the number 8, and players will wear commemorative jackets. Additionally, the Shannon RFC choir will perform a rendition of ‘There Is An Isle’.

Munster addressed criticism from supporters regarding the match venue. While some fans argued the game should have been held at Thomond Park in Limerick to better honor Foley's legacy, the club stated the decision to play in Cork was approved in March, prior to the Champions Cup draw and the confirmation of the match dates and opponents. The club noted that the venue choice reflects their commitment to bringing major rugby events to supporters across the entire province.
